State of the Economy

A new President has taken office since I last posted. The wonderful celebrations of his historical mark not only affected this country but across the world many countries watched intently. As I traveled with my husband back in the fall, we met some Canadians who said that they were in the midst of their elections, yet they knew more about our candidates and the entire process than their own. It was apparent that their media as well as other countries were also keeping a close eye on us.

As I watched the celebrations and saw the enthusiasm of those who supported and attended the ceremonies, I also listened closely to the commentators. The President Elect was not in the office yet and they had already begun to question the honeymoon phase. They were ready for the fall out. They just knew he would fail miserably. They spoke on how the people will soon have to wake up and realize that the state of the economy was no easy feat. As if........

The people are far from feeling that President Obama is the savior of all mankind. They are more aware of the challenges he is facing and vow to support him. Many were even inspired to want to help in any small way that they can. They stood in the freezing temperatures to show their support. They traveled and although many hundreds of thousands were stuck in traffic and unable to attend the inauguration - they all made their way to Washington D.C. to be apart of what they helped to make happen.

The Republican Party and their allies have all determined within their camps to maintain a great divide. The last eight years of their party's leadership has failed miserably. The former President Bush (God forgive him) signed off to lend the big banking institutions and corporations the billions of funds they so very much needed to stinulate the economy and remain sound. They were so happy. They went off to fancy retreats, celebrated and enjoyed big bonuses for the hard work of convincing Washington - they won! Republican unofficial spokesman Rush Limbaugh stated that he wants the President of the United States of America to fail. What a declaration?
While many of those Republicans sit and hold off on getting things accomplished to help the American people that they represent, they allow and even stand by Rush Limabugh's comments. How incredibly ridiculous is that?!!

It is as if they stand in solidarity to see our nation fail, while they are maintaining their livelihoods. Are they feeling the same effect that many are feeling? Of course not, they have a job. A job to serve the people which seems like they are actually serving their own egos and biases. In the meantime, back on the real homefront, the people are losing their jobs, homes, healthcare, cars and more.

While the country is in an economic crisis, people like Rush Limbaugh and many other commentators live luxuriously spewing their venom. The oh so perfect Mr. Limbaugh, Mr. O'Reilly, Hannity and others, all have their own great sense of judgment and have never failed at anything. You can tell by the way they shout and scream about all things concerning the President/Democrats. Of course their are many who are faithful viewers and supporters who agree with them while they themselves are living in the midst of chaos. A chaos that our new President has to work very hard to get us through this awful mess.

I wonder what would happen if Mr. Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and others in their financial circles lost their jobs and could not find a new one, at least not in time to save their homes from foreclosure, their cars from being repossesed, their bank accounts closed, their loss of electricity, the food is running low, etc. How would they hold up through these tough times? How long could they wait while the senate and congress hold up in debates? Will they survive?

I want to see President Barack Hussein Obama succeed. The lives of the American people depend on it. In fact, the world is depending on us. It's time to do something. Think about it.
